The DDGM is a Congressman

Honorable Congressman Rommel Rico Teh Angara of the Lone District of Aurora is the third District Deputy Grand Master to be appointed for Masonic District Nueva Ecija East and Aurora after PDDGM Rhomel Martinez in MY 2019-2021 and PDDGM Hossain Shamsoddin Vostakalaei in MY 2021-2002.

DDGM Rommel is a scion of Aurora's most notable political clan --- his father served as mayor of Baler (founded 1609) which is among the oldest towns of the Philippines for 10 years (1978-1988), his uncle Arthur Angara as mayor of the same town  for 18 years (1992-2001, 2004-2013) while his brother was just reelected for a second term in the same position (2019-present).

His uncle is of course the eminent former UP President and Senate President Edgardo Angara while his aunt Bellaflor Angara-Castillo represented Aurora in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 2004 before serving as a three-term governor of the province (2004-2023). 

DDGM Rommel's father, the late brother Mayor Joselito Angara is among the first sons of Manuel L. Quezon Masonic Lodge No. 262 which is also the Lodge of his blood brother, incumbent Baler Mayor Rhett Ronan Angara. His cousin brother Sen. Sonny Angara is the incumbent Master of Pangarap Masonic Lodge No. 448. 

DDGM Rommel and that of Mayor Rhett's Masonic career were inspired by their father who they plan to memorialize by building Kasiguruhan Masonic Lodge No. 423's Masonic Temple in his honor.


DDGM Rommel was among the first sons of Kasiguruhan Masonic Lodge No. 423 where he was raised as a Master Mason in 2015. 

He served as Master of the Lodge in 2018 and was apppointed as a District Grand Lecturer of MD Nueva Ecija East and Aurora in 2019.

Despite being reelected unopposed to his second term (2019-present) to the House of Representives, previously serving two terms (2013-2019) as Aurora province's vice-governor and then brother Rep. Sonny Angara's congressional Chief of Staff for 9 years (2004-2013), the boyish looking congressman from Aurora is really that young at 43 years old as of this day.

He is married to the former Engr. Lai Antonio with whom he shares the joy of raising their three children.

DDGM Rommel is a distinguished alumnus of De La Salle University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing Management, and was in the hotel and reaturant business prior to his political career.

For DDGM Rommel, preserving harmony among the selected few who qualified to join the Craft is his priority in line with Gand Master Johnny Pimentel's theme of "Harmony for One and All: The Foundation of Genuine Masonic Fraternity".

DDGM JEBONG IN JUNE: Igniting "Men in Light" and "Light Among Masons"

As is the tradition, DDGM Jebong announced the beginning of his incumbency by visiting the first four subordinate Lodges of Masonic District Nueva Ecija East and Aurora. He first visited Model Masonic Lodge No. 373 in Sto. DDGM JEBONG IN JULY: District Convention Elects DDGM Hossain as its JGW Nominee

On 19 July 2024, DDGM Jebong convened the subordinate Lodges of Nueva Ecija East and Aurora at the Talavera Masonic Lodge 273 for their annual District Convention . With DDGM Jebong presiding, the District Convention unanimously elected VW Hossain Shamsoddin Vostakalaei , one of its past District Deputy Grand Masters, as its nominee for the position of Junior Grand Warden in ANCOM 2025. In between, DDGM Jebong continued with his official visits to the District's subordinate Lodges --- in Baler whose Lodge memorializes the first Filipino Grand Master and in Palayan City that has been Nueva Ecija's capital city since 1965 --- to remind and exhort the brethren to " bring more light among Mason " which is is the central them of Grand Master Ariel Cayanan's incumbency.
